The design of the museum aims to respond to the unpredictability of archaeological findings on the site, the flexibility of uses and exhibition layouts, and the building’s phasing over time and budget. Accordingly, the museum complex is broken down into Lego-like, elevated, non-monumental generic buildings with a non-hierarchical, centreless composition. We perceive this museum complex as a work-in-progress project, similar to an ongoing archaeological excavation.
